The Benefits of Desi Cow Milk

Benefits of A2 Milk

In ancient India, a cow’s milk fed the entire family and cow shelters were common. Our forefathers and scriptures taught us that desi cow’s milk is the best milk after breast milk.

According to Ayurveda, it has a high nutritive value for our vital organs and is sweet in taste and soothing in nature.

In our scriptures, cow’s milk is appreciated for its healing properties, enhanced mental faculties, and positive energy that it instils in people.

It enriches people with ‘SatoGuna’ – mode of goodness.

The Indian desi cow marked by a hump on their back and soft skin folds below their necks are known to be the direct descendants of the celestial cow, Surabhi, mentioned in Vedas. Thus, we can say that the milk produced by them is no less than Amrit, Nectar!

Its milk provides our body and mind with nourishment, ghee nurtures and purifies us and cow dung and urine have magical medicinal values.

Desi Cow Milk’s physical, spiritual and emotional benefits are countless as it maintains the overall well-being of our body and brings auspiciousness in our lives.

Here are some reasons why A2 Desi Cow Milk is Nature’s Perfect Gift to Mankind –

  • It is the most pure and natural form of milk.
  • It is one of the best sources of proteins, minerals and vitamins.
  • It aids quick digestion because the beta-casein protein present in A2 milk breaks down into amino-acids unlike packaged milk, buffalo milk or milk produced by Jersey/HF foreign breed of cows.  This is the reason it is gaining popularity in recent times.
  • It is a rich source of minerals such as calcium, potassium, phosphorus necessary for strong bones and teeth.
  • Leads to better functioning of muscles, tissues and cell growth
  • Helps to improve good cholesterol level (HDL)
  • Rich in essential vitamins like vitamin A, D and B12
  • Builds Immunity and thus provides protection against diseases like thyroid, high blood pressure, diabetes etc.
  • Provides Omega-3 fatty acids that promote heart health.
  • It is a complete food for pregnant and breast-feeding mothers.
  • Purifies body and mind and enhances Satvik gunas in the body
  • Attracts divine consciousness

Knowing these sacred benefits of desi cow milk we must add it in our diet to physically, mentally, spiritually and emotionally nourish ourselves.

You will be surprised to know that until the 1970s only desi/indigenous breed of cows existed in India. It was during the famous white revolution that intensive imports and promotion of Jersey/HF cows, cross-breeding & genetic modification took place.

Commercialization and industrialization of the diary industry resulted in mass production of milk.  Now the cow was being treated like a milk-machine instead of being respected like a Mother and milk became more of a product than nourishing nectar!

It is extremely unfortunate that India originally had 111 varieties of desi cows which are now reduced to only 37 which are also endangered and are on the verge of extinction.

We MUST acknowledge, respect, cherish, protect, promote and preserve our Indian desi cow breeds.

The above-mentioned benefits are only in the context of A2 milk produced by the Indian desi cows and NOT applicable to Jersey/HF foreign breed of so – called cows. To know the difference between A1 and A2 milk please click here
